For the second consecutive year, brass|MEDIA Inc. has been named one of the Fastest-Growing Private 100 Companies by the Portland Business Journal. brass|MEDIA, a socially-driven media and technology company dedicated to helping young adults better understand money, was fortunate to be ranked number 30 on this year’s list.

“We are very proud to be recognized as one of the region’s fastest-growing companies,” commented Bryan Sims, 26-year-old brass|MEDIA Inc. CEO. In 2003 Sims started brass|MEDIA Inc., and its flagship publication brass|MAGAZINE, out of his dorm room and parents’ garage in his hometown of Corvallis, Oregon. brass is written for young adults, by young adults about the money side of life™. It features articles about young entrepreneurs, getting out of debt, savings strategies, and cheap ways to have fun, save the planet, and give back to the community.

Reaching nearly half a million young adults through partnerships with the financial industry and public schools, brass is one of the best resources where young adults can find information about money and how to make it work for them. Just over five years since the debut of brass|MAGAZINE, brass|MEDIA Inc. has evolved into a full-fledged media and technology company, providing financial education resources to schools and financial institutions through multiple channels, including online, print, and video.

In 2006, brass launched the brass|STUDENT PROGRAM, a nationwide initiative to strengthen high school students’ understand¬ing of money. The Student Program provides classroom sets of brass|MAGAZINE in sponsored states, as well as online resources, to teachers and students in public high schools.

“brass is proof that a business can be socially driven and be successful,” Sims said. “This past year has been the culmination of many things we’ve been working on for a long time and we’re fortunate to be reaching so many young adults across the country.”

Portland Business Journal’s Fastest-Growing Private 100 is compiled annually and made up of privately held companies whose growth represents the best in the region. In order to be considered for the list, a company must have been in business for a minimum of three years and have 2006 revenues of at least $500,000.
