The brass Young Today Rich Tomorrow tour brings money to life for New York high school students
- brass|MEDIA Inc. - March 21, 2007

In celebration of Financial Literacy Month, Bryan Sims, 23-year-old CEO of brass|MEDIA Inc., will speak to students in five cities through the brass|STUDENT PROGRAM-New York.

(Corvallis, Ore.) – New York high school students will get a crash-course on money matters when brass founder and CEO Bryan Sims visits five high schools across the state with the brass Young Today • Rich Tomorrow tour. High schools in Kingston, Harlem, Long Island, Rochester and Utica will host the tour's assembly presentations.

In the each presentation, Sims will share his experience of starting a successful business when he was just 19 years old. His company, brass|MEDIA Inc., produces brass|MAGAZINE, a lifestyle money magazine for young adults, by young adults, about the money side of life™, and has developed the brass|STUDENT PROGRAM to reach out directly to high school students.

The tour, which coincides with April's designation as Financial Literacy Month, allows Sims to share relevant examples with his peers. "I will give them some tips about money that they can use while they're still young, such as avoiding credit card debt, beginning to invest and not needing a brand new car," Sims offered. "I also hope that our previous cover stories, as well as myself, can serve as examples to show students that they can do whatever they want with their life, be it becoming a poet, or starting a magazine."

Through his message, Sims wants to convey to students that being rich means much more than having money. "Being rich is more than the size of your savings account, the car you drive or brand of clothing you wear," he clarified. "It's a lifestyle that embodies fulfillment, balance and compassion for others."

The brass Young Today Rich Tomorrow tour launches at Kingston High School on March 28. It continues with stops at Harlem Renaissance High School March 29 and East Islip High School (Long Island) on March 30. The tour concludes in upstate New York following visits to Greece Athena High School (Rochester) April 2 and Thomas Proctor High School in Utica on April 3.

The inaugural tour will also celebrate the statewide success of the brass|STUDENT PROGRAM-New York, which premiered last August. Through the sponsorship of New York State credit unions and with the help of the New York Credit Union Foundation 50,000 students in New York public high schools receive classroom copies of brass|MAGAZINE. The program also provides complimentary resources to teachers through the online Teacher Resource Center.

Gold sponsor, Municipal Credit Union, and 20 other credit unions serving New York are the sponsors of the brass|STUDENT PROGRAM-New York. Their sponsorships are expressions of their commitment to raising the awareness of young adults to better understand money.

"Ensuring that all students become more sophisticated financial consumers will maximize their individual, and our community's, ultimate success," remarked Carole Gonzalez, EVP/Chief Operating Officer of Municipal Credit Union.
