Joining the Conversation: Connecting through Social Media

The internet is changing the way we consume information, get our news, make purchasing decisions and connect with others. Social media—defined as online content created through various technologies such as blogs, video, podcasts, social networks, etc.—is largely responsible for that change. Social media enables people to communicate easily on the internet by sharing information and resources. In most cases, social media simply follows the same normal flow as people’s natural personal contacts: parents influence their children, friends influence friends, teachers influence students, credit unions influence members, and members influence credit unions.
