The Definition of brass
brass
1. Bold self-assurance; effrontery, brazen.
2. The most important persons in a governing body; authority.
3. Money.

Guiding Principles
1. Money isn't everything.
While our slogan reads, "young today, rich tomorrow," often times the word rich is perceived as relating only to money. If you look up the word "rich" in the dictionary, it reads, "having great worth or value." We believe there is more to being rich than just having money. Giving back and helping others is the way we define living richly.
2. Created for young adults, by young adults.
We believe that to make information both pertinent and relevant, it should be shared in a peer-to-peer format. Our company and our voice are entirely for young adults, by young adults.
3. Change stereotypes.
Progress is being made in breaking down the barriers and stereotypes young adults face today. However, these barriers, both old and new, will continue to exist. We aim to keep tearing down those barriers and stereotypes and show why we’re glad young adults are the future.
4. Earn the trust of our generation.
In today's day and age, trust isn't something that comes lightly. Advertisements plaster every nook and cranny while sponsorships are built into content, blurring the lines between authenticity and advertorial. We aim to be the resource young adults can turn to for direct and relevant information about money and real world stuff.
5. Don't sell out.
Too often, organizations, companies and people sell out, compromising on their original intent. As we continue to build and nurture the trust of our peers, customers, and community, we must always ensure that we never sell out on our original objectives and principles.
6. Create a platform for young adults.
In the convergence from "Mass Media," to "My Media," we recognize the importance for young adults to share their opinions, stories and ideas. Our goal is to create a platform (in whatever shape it may take) where young adults can share and exchange ideas while highlighting other inspiring things young adults are doing today.
7. Make information entertaining.
The way information is shared today is often times outdated, ineffective and boring. Schools are teaching with old textbooks, while students surf the web on WiFi. News programs are losing touch as more young adults get their news from Jon Stewart than 60 Minutes. We strive to make the information we deliver intelligent yet humorous, educational yet witty, and meaningful yet light-hearted.
8. Stay young.
In order to maintain our connection with our audience, it is imperative that we continue to have a young voice. Too many times, what was successful is replaced by the next new trend, because companies weren’t able to stay ‘young.’ We always want to be young and keep the pulse of our generation.
9. Give back and help others.
We believe strongly in giving back and helping others in a variety of ways. We value our contributions to the community, whether speaking to high school students or donating copies of our magazine to various groups, including organizations such as Johns Hopkins Hospital. We reserve ad pages for non-profit organizations like the American Red Cross, UNICEF, and the American Indian College Fund.

However, giving back and helping others goes beyond supporting non-profits. It also means being socially engaged, like listening to the ideas of a young entrepreneur and sharing our contacts with them. It means hiring interns and young professionals to give them a chance to prove themselves in an up-and-coming environment. In short, this is our effort to make our community and world a better place through social entrepreneurship.
10. Be brass. Take chances.
Nothing great came out of mediocrity or without taking risks. We pledge to be brass, take chances, and achieve great things.
